President's Annual Report


Membership 42. 18 members attended the 201X Convention at Port Macquarie and four members attended the MD Convention in Melbourne.

Lions Lady President Noela Thompson was thanked for the Ladies help during the year. Lions Ladies cleaned houses and Lions cleared up yards and supplied mattresses and other furniture for those affected by the big flood. A train load of hay was donated by the Lions in the Orange/Bathurst area and rejected by by authorities and not allowed to be delivered.

The Golden Grain Carnival was most successful. The Princess was Jackie Henry and Caren Maunder was the Charity Princess raising $1,282.50. $374 was paid to delegates to go to the District Convension. The Golden Grain Carnival and Princesses netted $6,480. The Lions Club Rodeo netted $640. The Olympic cyclist raffle brought in $383. The Show Gates netted $900.

Expenditure included $917 for lighting at Boughton Oval, $200 to Flood Relief, also supported were Junior League, Gwydir Handicapped School and Park Shelter repairs.

The major recipient of the proceeds of the Golden Grain Carnival, was the Moree Home for the Aged, who received $6,490.31. The amateur Athletics Club received $400 towards purchase of a bus. The Schools, Blind Society, Far West Cot Fund, Anti TB Association and Bill Tresise Memorial Appeal all received donations. The Lions Ladies donated an Urn to the Club. The Senior Citizens were given a bus trip to Tareeloroi Weir on Lions International World Service Day. Lions were entertained by the Lions Ladies at a Leap Year Party.
